For iPhone
One candle,
lit on purpose.
A candle you light for someone, or for something. It burns down on your home screen over the day, in front of you the whole time. When it goes out, it says so.
Three things happen. Nothing else.
How it works
Say what it is for
One sentence, or leave it blank. A candle can be lit without words.
It burns on its own
Twenty-four hours, whether the app is open or not. Then it smoulders, then it goes cold.
It goes out
One notification when the flame dies. Nothing to dismiss, nothing to keep alive.
Your days
A record that builds up, not a number that scolds.
Every day you light a candle pours one more layer of wax into the glass. Drag along the column to read back what any day was for. Miss a day and nothing is deleted — the wax below stays exactly where it was.
- Today's pour sits warmer and glossier than the rest.
- Not lit yet? An empty mould waits — the streak still stands.
- A missed day leaves a cool grey seam. The count starts again; the wax below stays.
Home screen
A candle, not a picture of one.
Almost everything on a home screen is a picture of itself, frozen at the moment it was drawn. This one moves. The flame leans and rights itself the way a real one does, all day, while you are answering messages and checking the weather.
That is the difference between a symbol and a presence. You did not light it to look at an icon. You lit it for someone, and it should still be going at four in the afternoon when you have forgotten you are holding your phone at all. It is.
The wax sinks as the hours pass, so a glance tells you how much of the day is left in it. Nothing to open, nothing to check.
The two here are burning as you read. Pick the sky that suits your wallpaper — the ones that ship are free. A colour of your own, or a photograph for the candle to stand in front of, is what the subscription is for.
No account
There is nothing to sign up for and no way to log in. Open the app and light a candle.
Nothing sent anywhere
What you write stays in this iPhone's own storage. There is no server to send it to.
No feed, no others
You cannot follow anyone and nobody can see your candles. It is not that kind of app.
Light one tonight.
It takes one sentence, or none at all.
